Miceli Drapery was founded

by John Miceli Sr. in 1965

During the summer of 1965 John Miceli Sr. began selling draperies to friends and family in his Chicago neighborhood. When the small workroom he used could not deliver to his customers on time he bought his first sewing machine and hired Mrs. Patrino, his mother-in-laws friend & retired seamstress, to sew drapes.  The Miceli Drapery Family grew from there.  John Sr.’s gregarious personality and fun demeanor brought in his first customers but the quality and beautiful workmanship of his creations kept them coming. John's wife, Sandi, supported him in any way she could and convinced John to purchase their first location on W. Diversy; the 5,000 square foot space seemed immense but as Miceli Drapery became increasingly recognized for quality, clients from across the midwest began to seek them out to assist in bringing their design intent to reality.   In 1987 John and Sandi moved the company an hour west of Chicago to Marengo, Illinois. where they were able build a dedicated conscientious team to meet clients needs. John Miceli Jr also joined the company full time in 1987 after college.

As a young boy John Jr.’s first job in the business was picking up stray pins on the workroom floor. As a teenager he worked as part of the workroom staff in manufacturing and became a proficient installer. By the age of 18 John was selling and installing his first commercial jobs. He has grown Miceli Drapery into the company it is today... a leading US manufacturer of custom window treatments and decorative top of bed items emphasizing in Hospitality and commercial markets. Miceli Drapery has successfully and proudly completed thousands of projects across the continental US, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. With a dedicated family of more than 200 seasoned team members, the  company now operates out of a 200,000 square foot, state of the art facility in Union, Illinois. Miceli Drapery is a leading manufacturer of custom window treatments in the United States.
